FORUM THEATRE - Originally, the technique was developed by Augusto Boal (1931-2009) as a political tool for social change (part of the Theatre of the Oppressed), and it has also been widely adapted for use in educational contexts. This technique breaks through the barrier between performers and the audience, putting them on an equal footing. It enables participants to try out courses of action that could be applied to their everyday lives.

Forum Theatre encourages people to find solutions, through debate that is action-led. It can be used with people of all ages in situations of conflict, risk, vulnerability, and civic engagement, as well as in any structural social oppression.

FACILITATOR - David Limaverde is Amsterdam-based, Brazilian-born art educator, participatory artist, and researcher; interested in (inventing) participatory arts methodologies.

He facilitates Forum Theatre processes, and other Theatre/Aesthetics of the Oppressed techniques; he is a Community Care advocate; and engaged in bringing Global South knowledges to Art Education, Critical Pedagogy, Artistic Research, and Public Space discourse.
